This was my first time doing 3D character animation with this technique. I found doing it to be pretty fun and fast. I got used to what I needed to do to ensure the character animations were smooth and well-timed. I found timing the different animations to be difficult but it worked out in the end.
I started with basic movements like Walking and Jumping. Once I got used to those I decided to add more animations like Running, Left Strafe, Right Strafe, Walking backwards and cheering. Adding more animations got more difficult because I had to figure out the timings so the animations would be in sync.
Input Keys
The animator shows how the input keys animated the character and also show how long the animation lasted. This was very handy as I could then tweak the timings to fit the character. Having the animator open while your game was running was very helpful.
